1/2 pound (225g) unsalted butter
230 grams (8 oz) bitter sweet or semisweet chocolate, cut into 1/4-inch pieces
4 large eggs
1/2 teaspoon salt
200 grams (1 cup) granulated sugar
220 grams (1 cup) dark brown sugar, firmly packed
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
130 grams (1 cup) all-purpose flour
zest of 1 orange
1- Preheat your oven to 180C / 360F degrees.
2- Bring a saucepan of water to a boil, place a bowl on top, and place butter and chocolate in the bowl. Stir occasionally until melted.
3- In a large bowl, whisk the eggs along with salt, white sugar, brown sugar, vanilla, and orange zest.
4- Add the chocolate and butter mixture little by little into the egg mixture while mixing.
5- Add the flour and combine using a spatula.
6- Pour batter into prepared pan (33 cm x 23 cm x 5 cm / 13 x 9 x 2 inch pan) and spread evenly.
7- Bake for about 40-45 minutes, until top has formed a shiny crust.
8- Cool the cake completely before removing from the pan and cutting it. in pan on a rack.
Variations: Add walnuts or pecan pieces to the batter.
