Croissant Sandwich - Best Sandwich Ever!

Ingredients

  • Plain croissants
  • Shrimp version:
  • Lettuce & tomatoes
  • Peeled cooked shrimp
  • Shredded cheese of your choice
  • Finally chopped cilantro
  • Mayonnaise
  • Salt and pepper
  • Gherkins (pickles)
  • Egg version:
  • Lettuce and tomatoes
  • Boiled eggs
  • Shredded cheese of your choice
  • Finely chopped parsley
  • Salt and pepper

Directions

  1. Step 1: Preparing the Shrimp Mixture

    1. Cut the shrimp into small pieces.

    2. Slice the gherkins.

    3. Mix the cilantro, mayonnaise, gherkins and salt and pepper with the shrimp.

  2. Step 2: Chopping What Needs to be Chopped!

    1. Slice the tomatoes.

    2. Shred the lettuce.

    3. Slice the eggs.

  3. Step 3: Preparing the Croissants

    1. Slice each croissant so it is still connected in the back.

    2. Fill with cheese.

    3. Place on a foil-lined baking sheet.

    4. Preheat your oven to 350°F.

    5. Toast the croissant until the cheese is melted.

  4. Step 4: Assembling the Sandwiches

    1. Shrimp version: Once the croissants are hot and the cheese is melted, add the lettuce, tomatoes and shrimp mixture.

    2. Egg version: Add the lettuce, tomatoes, eggs and sprinkle with parsley and salt and pepper.

    We used to go to the same restaurant... Unfortunately that place was teared down along with all the other shops and restaurants of the "centre 2000"... I also used to like their juice.
    It is indeed the best sandwich ever !!! I do it every now and then. It is so yummi !

    Haha we lived in Rabat and would drive all the way to Casa to eat the famous croissant snadwich. Great childhood memories. Thank you for this recipe Alia.
