379 – Beetroot smoothie 2 ways / عصير الشمندر
- RECIPE 1: BEET ORANGE SMOOTHIE
- 9 oz (250 grams) of cooked beets (cold)
- 3-4 oranges (Navel)
- Sugar (to taste)
- 1/2 teaspoon orange blossom water (to taste)
- RECIPE 2: BEETROOT SUPER SMOOTHIE
- 1 cup cooked beets (cold)
- 4-5 strawberries
- 1 banana
- 1 cup milk
- 2 madjool (large) dates
- 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
- 1 tablespoon honey (to taste)
Step 1 – Roasting beetroots:
1- Brush the beetroots with olive oil
2- Wrap each beetroot in foil
3- Place the wrapped beetroots in a baking pan, and bake in a pre-heated oven at 425 F / 218 C for around 45 minutes
4- Check if the beets are cooked by inserting a knife – the knife should get through easily
5- Remove the foil from the beets and let them cool a bit
6- Peel and chop the beets. You may want to use gloves so you dont stain your hands
7- Place the chopped beets in a bowl and let them cool down in the fridge before using them in the juices
Recipe 1: Beets Orange Smoothie
1- Make fresh orange juice with the oranges
2- In a blender, place the cooked beets (cooled down), fresh orange juice, sugar, and orange blossom water. Mix until smooth.
3- Taste and adjust the ingredients. Add more orange juice if you want the juice to be more liquidy, and add more sugar for a sweeter taste.
4- Serve cold.
Recipe 2: Beetroot Super Smoothie
1- In a blender, place the cooked beets (cold), chopped strawberries, chopped banana, chopped dates, milk, and honey. Mix until smooth.
2- Taste and adjust ingredients. Add more milk if you want the smoothie to be thinner or more honey if you want it sweeter.
3- Serve cold.
