456 – Fancy Tuna Salad / سلطة التونة الرائعة
- 2 canned tuna
- 2 large tomatoes
- 1 celery stick (or 1/2 apple)
- 1 shallot (or 1/4 onion)
- 1/2 lemon
- A small bunch of fresh cilantro
- Spicy olive oil, to taste
- 1/4 preserved lemon. rind only
1- First, drain the tuna from the water or oil, and place it in a large bowl.
2- Cut the ends of the celery stick. Thinly slice the celery stick then chop it into small cubes. Add the celery pieces to the tuna.
3- Now finely chop the shallots and add to the tuna bowl.
4- Remove the pulp from the preserved lemon quarter as we are just using the skin. Thinly slice the preserved lemon skin then chop it into small cubes. Add to the tuna bowl.
5- Remove the cilantro leaves from the stem, and finely chop the leaves. Add to the tuna bowl.
6- Slice off the top of the tomatoes and keep them on the side for later. Use a spoon to empty the tomatoes. Do it gently so you don’t cut through the tomato skin because we want to have a nice tomato bowl with a cute little hat!
7- Chop the tomato pulp and add it to the tuna bowl.
8- Squeeze fresh lemon juice on all the ingredients, and add spicy olive oil. Season with salt and pepper. Mix all the ingredients together, taste, and adjust seasoning.
9- Now fill the tomato bowls with the tuna salad and place the hat on top. Chill in the fridge before serving.
