289 – Walnut Cocoa Brownies / براونيز كاكاو الجوز

Ingredients :

 

  • 10 tablespoons (142 grams) of unsalted butter (cut into small pieces)
  • 1 1/4 cups (250 grams) white granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cups (85 grams) natural unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 teaspoons water
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/3 cup (40 grams) all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup walnut (chopped) or any other nuts of your choice

Directions :

 

This recipe a brownie that can have around 16 pieces.

Step 1: Making the Batter
1- Melt the butter in a saucepan on medium heat. Once completely melted, remove the butter from the heat and place the saucepan on your kitchen counter.
2- Immediately add the sugar to the melted butter. Mix.
3- Add the unsweetened cocoa powder and a pinch of salt. Mix.
4- Add the water and vanilla extract. Mix well.
5- Add the eggs one at a time and mix well after each addition before adding the next egg. Use a rubber spatula or wooden spoon for the mixing.
6- Finally add the flour and mix until well integrated.
7- Add the chopped walnuts. Mix.

Step 2: Baking the Brownie
1- Preheat your oven to 325 F / 163 C.
2- Prepare a baking pan 8x8x2 inches. Butter the pan, then place pachment paper on it and butter the parchment paper.
3- Pour the batter in the pan.
4- Bake for 30-40 minutes until done. You can check the brownie is done by doing the skewer test, where if you insert a skewer in the center of the cake, it should come out just with little crumbs.
5- Let the brownie cool down to room temperature before cutting and serving.
