203 – Best Key Lime Pie Recipe : Making the Graham Crust
- 5 oz (140 grams) Graham crackers
- 5.5 oz (154 grams) raw cashews (or blanched almonds)
- 2 tablespoons white sugar
- 5 tablespoons (70 grams) butter
Step 1: Preparing Ingredients
1- Mix the graham crackers in a food processor until you get a very fine texture. If you get pieces of graham crackers that do not get mix with the rest, just pulse them a few times and they would get mixed.
2- Mix the raw cashews in a food processor until you get a very fine texture.
3- Melt the butter.
Step 2: Mixing the Ingredients
1- In a large bowl, mix the graham crackers and cashews powders.
2- Add the melted butter and mix until well incorproated. The texture should feel like wet sand.
Step 3: Baking the Crust
1- Preheat your oven to 350 F (176 C) degree.
2- Spread the Graham mixture into your baking pan (preferably a 9 inch baking pan – if the pan is larger you may need more mixture, if the pan is smaller, you many not meed the entire mixture).
3- Your the palm of your hands to flatten the Graham mixture into the pan in an even layer. Do not forget to side of the pan to create an elevation of the pie.
4- Bake for 10 minutes.
5- Remove the crust from the oven and let it cool down before using it! You can use this crust with the key lime pie recipe or any other pie recipe!
