718- Shrimp Lettuce Wraps / لفائف الخس والقيمرون

Ingredients

For the filling:

250 g (8.6 oz.) shrimp

1 tablespoon butter

Zest of 1/2 lemon

50 grams (1.7 oz.) chinese vermicelli  

1 tablespoon nuoc mam sauce Carrefour

1 tablespoon fresh mint, chopped

1 carotte

1 cucumber

Salt and pepper, to taste

 

For the sauce:

3 tablespoons sesame oil Carrefour

2 tablespoons lemon juice

1 tablespoon sauce nuoc mam Carrefour

1 tablespoon brown sugar

1 garlic clove, minced

 

For preparing the wrap:

Lettuce leaves

Fresh mint leaves

Parsley leaves

Roasted unsalted peanuts, chopped

 

Directions

1- In a pan, over medium heat, melt the butter. Sauté the shrimp with salt, pepper, and lemon zest

2- Place the vermicelli in a large bowl. Pour boiling water over the vermicelli and let it sit for 10 minutes until it becomes soft and translucent

3- Drain the vermicelli from the water. Using a pair of scissors, cut the vermicelli into bite size threads. Season with 1 teaspoon nuoc mam sauce

4- Add the shrimp and the chopped mint to the vermicelli and mix

5- Cut the carrot and cucumber into julienne (thin sticks)

6- Prepare the sauce by mixing together all the ingredients of the sauce

7- Serve all the ingredients separated: lettuce and herbs, carrot sticks, cucumber sticks, and vermicelli shrimp mix. Place the sauce in a bowl and serve it as well

8- In a lettuce leaf, place the shrimp and vermicelli mixture, add the cut veggies, add a sprinkle of chopped peanuts, and decorate with a leaf of mint or parsley

9- To eat the shrimp lettuce wrap, roll it then dip it in the sauce
